Why

Dream Park will be the first truly universally inclusive playground in the City of Fort Worth. What does this mean? This means that children of all abilities will be able to play side by side with the only limitation being their imaginations. According to the Fort Worth ISD, 7.9% of children currently enrolled have intellectual or developmental disabilities, nearly 6400 students, yet there are very limited areas in our community for these children to play as most playgrounds are not equipped to accommodate their special needs. These children are missing out on the fundamental benefits of play and improvement in social, mental and physical development. We feel all children should have a safe place to play, regardless of their abilities. We believe that there should no barriers to children playing together. We are going to create and build a park, Tim believed this as well and this tournament.

ABOUT TIM

Tim Watson was a one of kind man. He never met a stranger, they were just a friend he had not met yet. He had love of life that was only matched by the smile that always greeted you. Tim’s favorite past times were live music, golf, drag racing, tailgating, and his friends. Tim unfortunately passed away September 21, 2014.

Tim was married to Corrie Watson, who is on the board of Dream Park. That is how the Tim Watson Memorial Concert & Charity Auction came to be. It is to honor the memory of man who saw the best in everyone and who truly believed the only limits in life were your own imagination, which is the founding principal of Dream Park. Dream Park fosters our belief that children of all abilities should be able play side by side where the only limitation is their imagination.
